From chaos to a festival overture
The program begins at the very edge of creation with Joseph Haydn’s “The Representation of Chaos,” music that seems to gather a world out of darkness. Claude Debussy’s shimmering “Pagodes,” orchestrated by André Caplet, then casts its own spell through luminous textures and resonant color. Johannes Brahms brings warmth, wit, and exuberance with his Academic Festival Overture.
From primordial mystery to dazzling dance
After intermission, Aleksandr Scriabin’s delicate Rêverie invites listeners into a dreamlike soundscape and Alexander Borodin’s spirited “Polovtsian Dances” from Prince Igor closes the concert with irresistible rhythm and grandeur.
Whether you are a longtime concertgoer or discovering live orchestral music for the first time, this season opener offers an inviting journey from primordial mystery to dazzling dance.
Join guest conducotr Kristin Tjornehoj and the Golden Valley Orchestra for a program designed to spark the imagination and celebrate the magic of music shared in community.
